Astronomers believe there are at least 70 sextillion stars in the universe. That’s 70,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 stars, more than 200 billion times the few hundred billion stars in our galaxy. They’re billions of years old too.

We look at five romantic hotel rooms that have these constant constellations as their ceilings.

Las Ventanas Al Paraiso, Mexico

With its superb service and exquisite accommodation this hotel is loved by celebrities including Jennifer Anniston and George Clooney. Even Simon Cowell has been known to admit to a love for the venue.

Each penthouse suite has a king-size bed on its wide terrace from which to watch the stars fade into sunrise. As if it couldn’t get any better, the hotel also has a luxury spa, in case nature’s slideshow wasn’t enough of a treat.

L’Albereta, Erbusco Brescia, Italy

The ceiling of the Cabriolet Suite opens at the touch of a button. Guests can enjoy a private outdoor experience in their hotel room, with the option to close the ceiling anytime they might (or might not) want to.

Nkwichi Lodge, Mozambique

An African night-sky is almost unparalleled in its beauty. Watch it unfold on a Lake of Stars bed, set on a deserted beach or a private island in one of the continent’s most pristine and untouched countries.

Kakslauttanen, Finland

Stay at this enchanting arctic resort for your own private light show. Opt for a glass or kelo-glass igloo, and watch the Northern lights dance across the sky from the warmth and comfort of your hideaway.

Amangiri, USA

The barren landscape around this hotel creates the sensation that travellers could be on another planet. Tucked in the middle of the Grand Circle, the largest concentration of national parks in the United States, it offers a luxurious view of the Utah night sky – five star extraterrestrial living.
