The Vibrant Streets of Cape Town:

As you stroll through the streets of Cape Town, you’re greeted with a kaleidoscope of cultures. The city embodies the Rainbow Nation, with Cape Dutch Homesteads, traditional dancers from various tribes, and the aroma of flavourful Malay cuisine. It’s a sensory feast that truly delights.

Arriving in Cape Town:

After a 12-hour overnight flight from Edinburgh via Heathrow on British Airways, we arrived at Cape Town International Airport. Situated 20 km from the city center, various transport options are available, including hotel-arranged transfers, taxis, Uber cabs, and the My Citi shuttle service.

Accommodation Recommendation:

During our eight-day stay, we chose the Hyatt Regency Cape Town City Centre as our base. Located in the colourful Bo-Kaap district, it provided easy access to bustling areas like Bree Street and Long Street. The hotel’s friendly staff, modern amenities, and views of Table Mountain made it an excellent choice.

Like any city, using common sense and avoiding uncomfortable situations is essential in Cape Town. We felt safe walking to Bree Street and Long Street, but taxis and Uber are readily available for longer distances. The Hop on Hop Off bus is also a convenient option for exploring the city and its surroundings.
