It’s strange how having grown up so close to London that I didn’t know much about it until recently! You often find this though don’t you, where people from afar are more familiar to your home city – strange. Anyway, because of this, in recent months I’ve been out exploring the big city that was on my doorstep and I have listed my top 5 unique London Attractions which might make your trip that bit more memorable!
1) Electric Cinema
There are two Electric Cinemas in London, one in Notting Hill and one in Shoreditch. I went to the Shoreditch cinema and it wasn’t until I arrived I realised they also had a bar and restaurant upstairs which is cool should you want to have some food before the movie. Unlike any other cinema I have been to, this place has extremely comfy seats with a table between them, nicely placed for a bottle of wine to share! Foot stalls and blankets are also provided for the ultimate movie/blanket experience. If you want to go the extra mile, specifically check out the Notting Hill cinema because it has double beds you can watch films from! Our top, unique place within this London Attractions list!
2) Galvin At Windows
If looking out over London from the top of skyscraper whilst sipping a cocktail and listening to ambient house music is you thing, then this is a must! Situated on the 28th floor of the London Hilton on Park Lane, this places oozes sophistication with an interior evoking the glamour of the 1930s. Sit in the bar with views overlooking Canary Wharf, the London Eye, Hyde Park, Buckingham Palace and Wembley Stadium, or make a reservation in the Michelin-starred restaurant and experience seasonally inspired menus based around modern French haute cuisine.
3) London Cat Village
Not easy to find, but once you do, you realise you are there as you’ll be accompanied by 17 cats waiting to greet you! Upon entering the cafe you are asked to take off your shoes with the option of wearing slippers provided or just enter in your socks. This instantly gives you the homely vibe as though you are visiting a friend. Choose from a selection of drinks and cake, relax and enjoy your time with the feline residents. All bookings last for an hour and you are able to wander around to meet the cats, which may I add are extremely cute with breeds I never even knew existed such as the Chinchilla Fold which was my personal favourite!
4) Sushi Samba
Located on the 38th and 39th floors at Bishopsgate, just a stone’s throw away from Liverpool Street station, for added convenience, this place is very special indeed. Offering a unique blend of Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian cuisine, culture, music and striking design. According to their website the location features the highest outdoor dining terraces in Europe, offering 360 degree views of London city. As soon as you enter you are instantly wowed by everything you see, from the bold black and white gloss floor to the tall open bamboo ceiling, glass windows with breath taking views and orange tree on the terrace. A perfect place to go with a partner or group of friends. Check out their site for upcoming events.
5) The Dove
A charming, much-loved pub with incredible history, The Dove has been a fixture of London life for centuries. Set right on the River Thames, it’s the best pub in Hammersmith for great atmosphere, wonderful fresh food and of course a quenching pint of ale. Very reasonably priced, with everything you can imagine a true English pub should have including the open fire and usually a man and his dog.
